UntitledChapter 1 I stand outside in the light drizzle of rain and watch four men set the black coffin above the hole in the ground where my mother is to be placed to sleep peacefully forever. I don’t believe in a heaven or a hell, but my mother did and she always tried to get me to see things her way. It never worked, now I regret that I didn’t at least try to see it her way. We were always fighting about it, mainly on Sundays when she tried to force me to go to church. It would always start when she came into my room and gently shook me awake. Then she would hand me one of the few dresses I had in my closet and tell me to put it on.Untitled
